What to do when a member misses

A contribution is "missed" when the member has not paid and has not communicated a plan to pay. This is different from late — late means delayed but expected. Missed means the member has gone silent. Step 1: Try a different channel. If messaging has not worked, call. If calling has not worked, try through a mutual contact in the circle (with discretion). The member may be going through something that makes responding difficult. Step 2: Understand the situation. Is this a one-time event (medical emergency, family crisis, unexpected expense) or a pattern? One miss in six months of perfect contributions is a human moment. Three misses in a row is a pattern that needs addressing. Step 3: Assess the impact. If a payout is due and this contribution is missing, the CPR covers the shortfall. The receiving member is protected. But the defaulting member's CPR balance reduces, and their Standing score takes a hit. Step 4: Follow the governance rules. The circle's bylaws define consequences for missed contributions. The platform enforces the Standing impact automatically. Your job is to manage the human situation. Step 5: Escalate if needed. If the member is unresponsive after multiple attempts over several days, you can escalate to the platform's dispute resolution process. This is a last resort. One miss in an otherwise clean record has a small impact on Standing. Repeated misses cause significant decline. The system is forgiving of occasional human moments but identifies disengagement patterns.
