About Circl

The oldest way to save —
made digital

For as long as communities have existed, people have pooled money together and taken turns receiving the pot. In Jamaica they call it Pardna. In Ghana, Susu. In Kenya, Chama. In Mexico, Tanda. In Korea, Gye. In the UK, a Savings Club. Different names, same idea — and it works in every culture on earth because it is built on the most powerful financial infrastructure there is: trust between people who know each other.

The problem is that trust does not scale easily. Running a savings circle across borders, across currencies, with people you cannot meet in person — that is hard. Keeping records, resolving disputes, confirming who paid and who did not — that is hard. Bringing a rotating savings circle into the digital age without losing what makes it work — that is what Circl is for.

Circl is not a bank. It is not a payment processor. It is coordination infrastructure.

We provide the tools for circle members to govern themselves — proposals, votes, bylaws, contribution records, audit trails. We never hold your money. We never make financial decisions on your behalf. Members decide. Circl records and facilitates.

Our goal is to bring an estimated $500 billion of informal community finance out of notebooks and WhatsApp groups — into a transparent, member-governed, regulator-aligned protocol that works for any community, in any currency, anywhere in the world.

What we believe

Community finance is not informal — it is sophisticated, resilient, and underserved by traditional banking.

The people in a circle are the experts. Technology should serve them, not replace their judgment.

Financial inclusion means building systems that work for communities as they already exist.

Custody is risk. Circl will never hold member funds.

Beta programme

Circl is currently in closed beta. We are working with a small group of circles across Jamaica and the UK to test the platform with real money and real governance. Everything is free during beta. Your feedback directly shapes what we build next.
